Breeding beautiful Thoroughbred Race Prospects:

(Oregon TOBA) is a non-profit corporation committed to serving the interests of Oregon's breeding and racing industries. Our mission is to increase public interest through promotion and advancement of the breeding and racing of Oregon Thoroughbreds. Our goal is to strengthen the Oregon Thoroughbred industry, in cooperation with our board of directors and members, both in breeding and racing with new innovative ideas and incentive programs for the betterment of our industry.

 

The Oregon TOBA administers incentive programs to reward our owners and breeders of Oregon-breds.  For the 2010-2011 Portland Meadows race meet the Oregon TOBA paid over $385,000 in owners and breeders awards!  The owners' bonus was 35.9% of money earned (1st thru 5th place), and the breeders' award was 10% of wins in Oregon, by Oregon-breds!

Portland Meadows received Oregon Racing Commission approval of their application for the 2012-13 license that will usher in a new era at Portland Meadows.  Live Racing will commence on Sunday July 15, 2012 and will continue until closing day on Saturday December 8, 2012.  Portland Meadows has traditionally run from early October to March or April, so the new license sees a dramatic shift in scheduling that will also include weekend and night racing every week.   The Summer Meet will feature racing conducted on a Wednesday, Friday and Sunday schedule in July, August and September.  Racing on Wednesdays and Fridays will feature an evening post time of 6:00 PM (pacific).  Sunday will be a matinee card with post time at 1:00 PM.      The Fall Meet will begin on October 3, 2012 and racing will shift to a Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday schedule with post time each day at 1:00 PM, up until closing day on Saturday December 8, 2012.
