It all started in 1964, when local farm owners and managers saw the need to create a charity for
horsemen. We became a not-for-profit corporation in 1992.
When a person or family from the equine community presents us with an emergency financial request, we step in
and help by paying for housing, food, utility bills or cremation. There is no cash given, checks are
written directly to the mortgage holder, landlord, utility company, local grocery stores or funeral
home. Grocery donations are in the form of gift cards, the amounts vary depending on the size of
the family. They are only valid for food and necessities.
In 2001, the Florida Thoroughbred Farm Managers’, Inc. created the FTFM Foundation, Inc.
a 501c3, non-profit corporation. Its’ mission includes, granting scholarships (Spring and Fall terms)
to children of Florida horsemen who exhibit financial need, are full time students, and who maintain
a 2.5 GPA. If all the term requirements are met, students will receive a check for $500.00. Students,
once accepted, submit their grades and class list each semester for up to four years or a total of
$4,000.00. By forming this Non-Profit Corporation, we also are able to give assistance to other
related, non-profit 501c3 charities. Horse Protection Association of Florida, Horses~N~Heroes and
Stirrups and Strides are a few of the deserving charities we assist on a monthly basis.
